What I Need
To draw a caricature, I need a few photos of the person to be portrayed, preferably taken from fairly close up and from various angles: close-ups and half-length shots are fine, so I can figure out what to exaggerate and how to do it. It’s also best to provide at least one full-body photo, to get a sense of the person’s physique (and whether a full-body depiction is needed).Comments on the person’s mannerisms are also very helpful if you want to give the drawing more character.

How big is the caricature?
In the vast majority of cases, I work on standard A4-sized sheets: I think this is ideal for a nice little picture to hang on the wall; of course, we can always agree on other sizes. For digital drawings, the file is 300 dpi, RGB.But how much does it cost?

Usually not very long: what does that mean? It means I can complete the drawing in a few days, but it also depends on a few factors, such as:- black and white or color? Black and white takes less time; color takes a little longer;
- analog (i.e., on paper) or digital (file)? It doesn’t really make much difference; just keep in mind that for analog, I’ll have to mail the caricature to you via regular mail, while for digital, I’ll send it via email or file-sharing sites (e.g., WeTransfer);
- How many people are in the drawing? If I’m drawing two or more people, the time required increases proportionally: each person is one more caricature;
- I need it by yesterday! Well, you should have contacted me sooner;
- Changes midway through the process. I’d rather avoid them: it might not seem like it, but it often means starting from scratch;
- Unique requests. These may take longer;
- Special cases: the artist’s creative inspiration. To be honest, sometimes I just can’t seem to “get” a face, and no matter how hard I try, the caricature doesn’t come together right away. It’s rare, but it can happen.
