Over the past dozen years, I’ve created numerous caricatures, experimenting with different techniques and approaches.
Il Voltafacce was born as a curated selection of these works: 36 caricatures of public figures, well‑known in various fields from roughly the mid‑20th century to today. I would have liked to include many more, but I still have plenty in the drawer—and I’m continuing to create new ones.
Il Voltafacce is the perfect illustrated book for taking a break without thinking too much. We live surrounded by images and stories that try to tell us who we are and how we should look at the world; caricature, instead, preserves a small kind of magic: it exaggerates, plays, smiles… and precisely for this reason it helps us look at reality with a touch of light‑heartedness.
The book gathers original caricatures in a fast, intuitive, and engaging visual journey: you can flip through it, skip ahead, go back, follow the thread or get lost among the pages—always with a sense of ease. The title playfully refers to the act of “turning the page” to discover the next face.
The short text included in the book serves only to introduce the characters and doesn’t affect the fun at all. So even if you don’t speak Italian, you can absolutely enjoy it — and buy it anyway!
